Dear Citizens of Nemea and Distinguished Visitors,

The Trade Guilds of Ravenfort wish to cordially invite you to visit the trade quarter of the city this holiday! Our multitude of stalls wait and hunger for the keen interest of your group merchants, and for those of you with a bit less gold in your pockets, or a bit less time to spend, we have recently become the host to several new vendors.

Madame Du Coeur Brise has graced us with her presence, and freely offers her talents in fortune-telling to Nemea’s more adventurous folk for the entirety of the holiday. She does, however, request that you stop by her tent in order to schedule an appointment in advance, as she expects a rather large volume of visits during the next few weeks.

A gnome magician has set up a carnival booth on the outskirts of the trade quarter, as he seemingly could not find the fair grounds. We’d tell him and point him in the right direction, but he’s so short we can’t find him in the crowds! You can find his booth just past the fruit stalls, if you’re into carnival games.

And of course, there is the Charity Auction being jointly held by the University of Ravenfort and the local Chapter of the Conclave of Rashon. We’d tell you all about it, but Doctor Penworthy put it so well, we’ll simply tell you that you can find one of the handbills on the auction house wall.

We would have liked to bring you some evening's entertainment, but due to factors outside our control, we were unable to do so. On an unrelated issue, if anyone notices a large Juggling Troupe visiting any of the city's many charming taverns, would you please ask them to return the advance deposit to the city?

The time following the fall of the old empire was a time of great turmoil. The shadow of war hung heavy over the land, and it seemed that there was seldom a time when Fraon was not under attack by some marauding army. But Fraon began to grow in power, and soon was able to keep the enemy at bay. Things settled down to some semblance of normalcy for a time. Until the great drought came.
Everything was dying. The forests, the crops, the pastures all began to shrivel up and die for want of water. The harvest was so sparse that first year, that the people were left with little to live on through the winter. And it was just as bad the second year.
It went on so long that the great king Gustavius the first, third king of Fraon, grew desperate, and decided to fast and pray, hoping that a god, any god, would respond and alleviate the effects of the drought.
Nemea was the one to hear him. Moved by his plea, she visited him in a dream, and told him that she would end the drought if he would send his servants to fetch a small sapling from a nearby forest and plant it in his courtyard where all could see. He was to do this by way of his faith in her.
So the king sent forth his servants to get the sapling. When they returned with it, and it had been planted, it began to grow before their eyes. Within a week it looked as if it had been growing for a hundred years.
The tree wasn’t the only thing growing. Rains came, and the crops began to grow as well. When autumn came, it was the biggest harvest yet recorded in that kingdom.
In gratitude, the king commissioned a holiday in the Goddess’s honor, and decided to name the country that would eventually grow to become Nemea, after the goddess herself.
It is said that the Fraon line will continue to rule Nemea as long as the Tree of Life still stands.

The harvest festival is held every year to commemorate this great deed and to honor Nemea. It traditionally starts on the second Sunday in October and lasts for three weeks.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

To all chivalrous heroes of the land,

His Royal Highness King Ascario Lessandero Gustavius the 3rd, Lord and Chosen of Akbeth, High Marshal of the knightly legions of Nemea and her most industrious and glorious citizens wishes to announce the great Tournament of Ravenfort which is held yearly during the harvest festival in the honor of our grand goddess Nemea.

The yearly Grand Tournament is the grandest of its sort in all the known lands. The best Heroes and Clans of Nemea are fighting. He who wins may truly call himself the best.

One tournament will determine the best single fighter in the lands. It is open to all heroes of all levels. The winner will be awarded with a Branch from the Tree of Life itself.

Simultaneously the best Clans will fight for the honor of bearing the grand monument, the Sigil of the Hearth, blessed by the great goddess Nemea herself.

Would you like to know how exactly the combat system in WoD works? Or how your HP are calculated? Or why you can't attack Golems with magic?
Or who or what is Nemea? And why don't the Aswadi like us? And is headbutting a Dinturan really a good idea?
The answers to these and many more questions you can find in the Encyclopaedia of World of Dungeons. Or at least most of it.

And even if you think you know everything it is worth checking it again from time to time, since we are constantly adding new information and content to the Ency. Just last week a new Main page was introduced and great guides on grouping, trading and dungeons were added.

All these changes and guides were written by Jester, who I am happy to say was willing to join our WoD Team as the new Encyclopaedia Admin. But one man is hardly enough to write all the guides necessary for a complex game like World of Dungeons, so we are looking for more helpers who can write guides or stories to fill the ency. The following jobs are open:

- Editors, who complete ency content, write new entries and rework out of date ones.
- Proof-readers to check for errors in new and existing entries.
- Translators who can translate German texts to English.

If you are interested, reliable and willing to help, please message Jester with some information about yourself. Everyone with enough time and commitment is welcome.
We hope that we can find enough helpers to get the Encyclopaedia of WoD into a state worthy of the name as soon as possible. So don't forget to check in regularly to look for new content.

A long time ago, a vast host of Orcs was marching out of the region later to be known as Rash-Ter-Gul. Records are unsure as to what the Orcs wanted, but it is likely they wished to launch attacks on the prospering region that would later be named Shajin Empire. It is very likely that the individual nomadic tribes of Aoul would have just let the Orcs pass through the plains without many problems; however, Orcs being Orcs, they attacked every tribe they came across.

Among the first tribes to fall to the hands of the invaders was the small hunting tribe of barbroxu, in the far western outskirts of the Aoul plains were you could still see the Kargash Mountains. They were all slaughtered, women and children as well, none was spared. Save for one man, the tribe leader’s adolescent son whose real name has been forgotten throughout history, but whose later one is forever remembered. He was spared since he was away on an extended caribou hunt as one of the many rites of passage into Dinturan adulthood. This last remnant of barbroxu returned as a man to nothing but charred bodies of family and friends, a pillaged camp and tracks of Orcs as evident as from a caribou stampede. Rage burnt within him and the many lessons in controlling anger and self-control as the patient hunter was swept away as if by a tide.

His great hunt had just been extended and with a much more numerable and savage game than caribou. He vowed a blood-oath of vengeance upon these Orcish invaders which had destroyed and killed his family and that he lay to rest until all Orcs were dead. He took the single surname of Barbroxu as his only one as customary by those last of a Dinturan bloodline and embarked on his path to legend.
